How We Began
On January 21, 2003, the Akron Beacon Journal, Akron, Ohio, featured an article about Syndrome X called "Syndrome X - X Marks a Lot" http:www.defeatdiabetes.org/Articles/obesity030123.htm
The response was overwhelming. People wanted to know more about the disease. Our first informational meeting drew 300 people seeking answers to their lifelong battle with weight, fatigue, PCOS and many other problems. It was evident that more information was needed and the Syndrome X Association was born.
Since then, we have sponsored informational meetings, support group meetings, and Continuing Education Conferences for health care professionals. We have also published and distributed a bi-monthly newsletter, XChanges, for patients with Metabolic Syndrome X.
